The #Haulternative: Fashion Revolution Week Continues

This is the first time I've participated in Fashion Revolution Week and I'm so inspired by everything it's about and everyone involved! The slow fashion movement is alive and only getting stronger! As the week comes to a close I'd like to talk about another activity that Fashion Revolution encourages everyone to try: the #haulternative. I'm admittedly not that active on youtube but I have learned about "clothing hauls." These videos consist of people showing TONS of fast-fashion clothes they buy for an extremely small price. The haulternative, instead, encourages people to go through their own closets and fall back in love with items they already own!

For my take on the haulternative, I decided to pull out some of my favorite well-worn pieces from my closet. Then I put them to the Instagram test; I grabbed photos from my Instagram of me wearing these different pieces, at different times and in different places to prove that I really do get good use out of them!

Netted Top

I bought this top around 5 years ago in a boutique in Paris. I've had many moments where I've thought that I should give it away but I keep finding new outfits to wear it with. This item adds an edge to any outfit and keeps things interesting! This shirt has been with me through many different phases in the past 5 years of my life and I'm excited to see how it will work in years to come.

Chunky Sweater

This sweater is a size too big because that's all that the store had at the moment and I really wanted to take it home. (I'm such a sucker for turtlenecks.) I'm so glad I got it in that size because it is the coziest chunky sweater that I could ever ask for! My favorite memories of wearing the sweater are around Christmas time, in my house with my family. I don't always get to wear it out because I live in Southern California but I'll wear it all around the house and outside whenever I get the chance.

Denim Overalls

Overalls are another favorite of mine, I definitely have too many at the moment, however this is my go-to pair! The denim is thin and soft which makes them incredibly comfortable. I can wear in warm weather with sandals or add some layers to take it to colder climates. I've worn them so much that I've turned the minimal distressing into a gaping hole. I'm enjoying the worn look of it now but also considering adding patches to them as well. (More on that later!)

Patchwork Jeans

Speaking of patchwork this is my all-time favorite pair of jeans. I've only had them for a year or two but I've worn them about every other week since I bought them! I love that they can switch from being a neutral to a statement piece depending on the outfit. They give me confidence whenever I wear them and I can't see myself getting rid of them any time soon!
