On November 6, around 600 people gathered at the St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica to cheer on conscious fashion. The 2nd Annual Beyond the Label Sustainable Fashion Show + Tell showcased sustainable brands such as Industry of All Nations, Triarchy, Sita, and picks from Bead & Reel. With the help of City of Santa Monica's Office of Sustainability and the Environment and Sustainable Works, Beyond the Label was able to #makeshifthappen!

It was so wonderful to hear from incredibly passionate individuals like Lisa Mazzotta, the producer of the new film RiverBlue. The documentary follows river advocate Mark Angelo on a journey through some of the worlds most beautiful, yet polluted, rivers. If you're in LA come to a showing next week at the Los Angeles Film School!
Events like these are always so encouraging. Let's, face it– this #slowfashionmovement is not huge and it can sometimes feel like fashion activism is more work than it's worth. However, going to these gatherings reenergizes and gives hope for the future. There was a fascinating amount of people who were not well-versed in conscious fashion and were able to get comprehensive information from some of the community's experts. Together we proved that we do not have to sacrifice the earth, or people, for style!
